“We want our team of volunteers, project coordinators and board members to be a good reflection of Amsterdam society. For us, more diversity means more different perspectives, visions and experiences and thus more quality. Together, we are more than the sum of our parts. This allows us to better connect with the diversity in the city and do our job better. This is only possible if we listen carefully to each other, provide an inclusive work environment and a safe and pleasant work culture. This is what we stand and go for! Diversity and Inclusion are important to us, but we still have a lot to learn and work to do. We are happy to leverage the knowledge, expertise and network of ADI.”

Humanitas Amsterdam and Diemen has about 800 volunteers and together they support about 1,000 fellow townsmen annually in the areas of parenting, growing up, home administration, loneliness, grief and loss and detention. Goal is: to be more self-reliant and/or move forward together. The support is intensive (one half-day session per week, approximately one year) and outreach (in the participant’s home and/or at any desired location). Volunteers are trained and coached on-the-job by experienced project coordinators. Together they form a multidisciplinary team of subject matter experts.
