Municipality of Amsterdam and Pakhuis de Zwijger hosted a “livecast” on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020 in which the topic of “inclusive labor market in Amsterdam” took center stage. The livecast featured several speakers including Alice Odé and Bob Schenk, project leader & quartermaster of Amsterdam – Divers & Inclusive.
This was the second meeting in the series “Together toward an inclusive labor market in Amsterdam.” Last year, Amsterdam employers joined forces in a quest to become inclusive employers. Vertegenwoordigers uit de private en publieke sector, onderwijsinstellingen, deskundigen, werknemers en de gemeente gingen in Pakhuis de Zwijger met elkaar in gesprek. But how do things stand now? During this second meeting, through the livecast, they looked back at the results, policies and developments in the past year and set ambitions for the future.
The program consisted of three panels and a presentation by Amsterdam – Diverse & Inclusive. The first panel with Diana Magielsen (Director Unique) and Dionne Adboelhafiezkhan (Co-founder IZI Solutions) was about recruitment and selection and the upcoming legislation that will address discrimination in job applications. The second panel was on inclusive employment. What does this mean for SMEs? How can the municipality set an example? These questions and others were addressed by Peter Teesink (Municipal Secretary of Amsterdam), Pien Thate (Owner of Biolicious) and Nezahat Yildirim (Advisor on Diversity & Inclusion at central government and partner of Business Recruitment Services & Consultancy). There was a look into the future in the third panel with Alderman Social Affairs, Diversity and Democratization Municipality of Amsterdam Rutger Groot Wassink and Board Member MKB-Amsterdam on Labor Market and Education Michal van Dantzig.
