A labor market where everyone has equal opportunities is in the interest of all of us. That’s why Diversity in Business to promote diversity and inclusion in the Amsterdam workplace in partnership with the City of Amsterdam. Since 2015, Diversity in Business has been advising employers from both the private and public sectors on issues related to diversity and inclusion. Amsterdam Diverse & Inclusive gets to work on such questions in the urban context of Amsterdam.

PLATFORM OF AND FOR ENTREPRENEURS
The questions we address are centered around our goal of being a fair and inclusive employer. We want to achieve this goal by working with entrepreneurs and employers. With this platform, we connect leaders in the field of diversity and inclusion with interested organizations. We are also going to put joint issues on the agenda and discuss bottlenecks here. We also help business owners and employers by providing them with advice to find sustainable solutions to make their businesses diverse and inclusive. Moreover, companies benefit from the short lines of communication with key stakeholders in business and government that can be established in the Amsterdam – Diverse & Inclusive network.

THE TEAM
Our team consists of the following people. The project leader, Alice Odé, has extensive experience in the mission for an inclusive labor market. Jill Promes zet her knowledge of communications, multimedia and design to convey content as clearly and well as possible. Hussein Adam Dia knows how to link his theoretical knowledge to real-life stories and the needs of entrepreneurs. Bob Schenk, with his commitment and passion, fills the role of quartermaster and is also the point of contact for Amsterdam – Diverse & Inclusive.

In January 2020, the team involved all major business associations in Amsterdam in setting up this initiative. We hope to inspire companies through our expert knowledge and successful practical examples. Amsterdam – Divers & Inclusive continuously tests its advice against both theoretical and practical knowledge and the economic preconditions in order to provide up-to-date, tailor-made advice

OUR MISSION
Amsterdam – Diverse & Inclusive wants to contribute to better working conditions for people with a work disability or chronic illness, get more people from other ethnic-cultural backgrounds into the workforce, ensure that women and men have equal rights in the labor market, that older and younger workers are proportionally represented in companies, that lesbian, gay, transgender, transsexual and intersex (LGBT+) persons can be themselves in the workplace.
